Technical Manager - Business Development, Digital Inks in Rochester, NY.

We are looking for an ink scientist with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in formulating aqueous-based inks in the area of Digital Inkjet products. This position involves inkjet formulation work combined with a business oriented, customer facing role with internal and external customers. Experience in digital inkjet ink and related materials such as pigment dispersions, dyes and polymers highly desirable. This position encompasses new inkjet product development through to commercialization providing technical support, project management and supervision.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret inkjet customer requirement and translate into Kodak products that meet customer needs
  • Forecast customer demands to operations and participate in sales & operational planning
  • Evolve current ink formulations and/or develop new formulations to meet the needs of external inkjet customers
  • Establish fitness for use (FFU) specifications and critical to function (CTF) parameters for new inkjet inks and raw materials
  • Coordinate process development through commercialization to ensure robust processes in manufacturing as measured by process capability statistics
  • Lead and participate in operational and raw material supplier cost & quality improvement opportunities in ink and dispersion manufacturing areas
  • Conduct experimental work in the lab and/or manufacturing areas in support of troubleshooting, new programs and/or generally growing the inkjet knowledge base
  • Work to troubleshoot printing and formulary issues as they arise
  • Serve as a technical resource for the Digital Inkjet products customer base
  • Leadership of programs and team/supervisory responsibility
  • Providing direction for new products to pursue commercialization

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Experience in formulating and commercializing inkjet inks and/or related fluid formulations
  • Knowledge of pigment dispersions, resins and other materials used in ink

Highly Desirable:
  • Experience interacting with inkjet production and product development teams
  • Thorough analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, schedule, and direct projects and tasks
  • Adaptable to changing conditions and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a multi-functional team environment
  • Ability to effectively and independently interact with external customers and suppliers in both a business and technical role
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong understanding of materials commercialization process

Minimum Education Level:
  • MS or PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
